An improved range of Real Medical Aid that includes new benefits

A big thank-you to all brokers who took the time to join us at the recent Fedhealth launches countrywide. By now all our brokers should be aware of the 9.7% weighted average increase for 2011. The increase is based on a financially prudent approach, ensuring stability and future sustainability.

Anticipating 2011, Fedhealth has launched an expanded product range with the inclusion of Maxima EntryZone, a basic hospital plan, and Maxima Exec, a comprehensive option to fit comfortably between Maxima Standard and Maxima Plus, providing more comprehensive cover at value for money rates.

Fedhealth will also introduce an unlimited GP benefit for members on Maxima Plus, Maxima Exec, Maxima Standard, Maxima Basis, Ultimax and Ultima 300 as of 1 January 2011. This valuable new benefit means that members on these options will continue to have unlimited access to GPs once their OHEB and Savings are depleted. The only condition is that members make use of GPs on the extensive Fedhealth GP Network once in their self-payment gap. Members will receive full details of GPs on the network towards the end of the year. A special GP locator tool will also be available on the Fedhealth website by then. It is important to note that although these GP visits will be paid for directly by the Scheme once the member is in the self-payment gap, they will not accumulate to the Safety Net level.

Talking directly to the member

Unlike previous years when all renewal communication with members was done via our monthly newsletter, HouseCall!, all Fedhealth members will now receive a personalised letter in the post during the last week of October 2010.

The letter will provide members with the following information:

  • The contribution rate for 2011 on their existing option
  • A list of the most important benefit changes affecting their cover in 2011.

With their letter, members will also receive a one-page brochure on their existing option. If your members opt to remain on their existing option for 2011, they are not required to take action, they will automatically continue in 2011 without interruption.

Should they however want to consider other options, they will then have to complete an Option Selection Form for 2011 and return it to:
Fedhealth Product Renewal 2011,
Private Bag X3045,
Randburg, 2125,
OR
scan and e-mail it to update@fedhealth.co.za
OR
fax the form to (011) 671 3647.

Information on all Fedhealth options for 2011 as well as the Option Selection Form are available on the Fedhealth website at www.fedhealth.co.za. More information can also be obtained from the Customer Call Centre on 0860 002 153.

Members on Ultima 200 (Including OHEB) automatically upgraded

The new product in the Maxima range, Maxima Exec, is an enhanced version of the existing Ultima 200 (Incl OHEB) option. All members currently on Ultima 200 (Incl OHEB) will therefore automatically be upgraded to Maxima Exec. Although the affected members will experience a higher than average increase for 2011, the benefits of Maxima Exec are far superior to the benefits previously offered on Ultima 200 (Incl OHEB):

  • Oncology benefit has increased from R184 000 per family per year to unlimited
  • Organ transplant benefit has increased from R184 000 to R300 000
  • Renal dialysis benefit has increased from R206 000 to R300 000
  • Limits on the Chronic Disease Benefit have been increased by 31%
  • Day-to-day benefits have been increased substantially through the OHEB benefit.
Giving your members the cover they need

To create a more diverse product range to satisfy member needs in terms of affordability and corresponding cover, the Scheme has revised the number of chronic conditions covered on the various options as follows:

OPTION Conditions covered in 2010 Conditions covered in 2011
Maxima Plus 56 51
Maxima Exec (Previously Ultima 200 with OHEB) 70 51
Maxima Standard 56 39
Maxima Basis 56 25 PMBs + HIV/Aids
Maxima Core 56 25 PMBs + HIV/Aids
Maxima EntryZone 25 PMBs + HIV/Aids 25 PMBs + HIV/Aids
Ultimax, Ultima 300, Ultima 200 70 65

Members covered for conditions in 2010 who will now no longer be covered in 2011 for their specific condition on their current option, have been identified. These members will receive specific communication from the Scheme informing them as such. Members will be encouraged to upgrade to a higher option in 2011 that covers their condition.

Maxima Standard members who ran out of benefits early in the year have also been identified. These members will be informed in their renewal communication of Maxima Exec, the new option that will afford them more appropriate cover in 2011.

We would like to request that brokers assist their members in this regard. Ensuring that your member is on the correct option, ie. an option that provides the member with sufficient cover as required, is in everybody's best interest.

For more information on the 2011 renewal process, please contact your Broker Consultant or the Fedhealth Customer Call Centre on 0860 002 153.

Fedhealth again took home the honours of being rated as having the best overall service, in a recent survey conducted by ThinkMoney.co.za.

Over the past two and a half years, ThinkMoney.co.za subscribers have been leaving their feedback on what they think about their own medical aid schemes. ThinkMoney.co.za is an entirely independently owned and run site with comparisons that are 100% unbiased.

In this particular survey, the twelve most popular medical aids where revealed based on subscribers comments and Fedhealth came in at the top, scoring 3.99 out of 5 for service. This score was made up of a combination of the best service, best payouts process and best level of cover for your money.

Katy Caldis says Fedhealth is thrilled with this result. "The cherry on top was the 76% of our members who claimed they would recommend Fedhealth to friends and family. These survey results attest to the fact that we place great emphasis on ensuring our members receive the best service possible," she adds.

"We hope that these results will reinforce to the public that now is the time to consider service and not only price when choosing a medical scheme. Having concerns dealt with timeously, receiving professional advice and knowing claims will be dealt with efficiently often outweigh the few rands you may save on a less-expensive medical scheme. We will continue to work hard at keeping our service at a high standard," she concludes.

Also, in a recent www.hellopeter.com comparison of the top 7 open medical schemes' level of complaints, compliments and complaint to compliment conversion over the last 12 months, it was found that Fedhealth received the most compliments and the least complaints of all medical schemes.
